Get your contracts, disputes and unpaid invoices sorted by a lawyer who actually knows your industry.

Here's what we usually get asked
We're not a general commercial practice and don't try to be. We work with mining services, civil, engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, plant hire and construction. If you sign contracts, supply goods or services and have to get paid for them, we can help you get it done.
If it involves a contract, a customer, a supplier or a subbie, almost certainly. Most of what comes through that form is a contract someone's not sure about, a job that hasn't been paid for, or a disagreement that's starting to get expensive. If it's outside what we do, we'll tell you on the call and point you to someone who does.
Yes, because knowing what you're signing changes how you run the job. We regularly tell our clients 'don't stick your head in the sand and expect a better outcome'. We will tell you where the risk sits, what to price in, what to document as you go and where you've actually got room to push.
We work out where you stand under the contract first, then pick the path that fits, whether it's a firm letter, negotiation, mediation, adjudication, or court when it's the sensible commercial option. You'll know which one, what it costs and what a good result looks like before you commit to anything.
A letter of demand from us is the first step, it's cheap, fast, and it gets most debtors moving. If it doesn't, a statutory demand puts a company on a 21-day clock, and court is the last step for the ones who still won't pay. We'll tell you up front what's realistically recoverable so you're not spending good money chasing bad.
As you take on more people, more contracts and maybe a partner or two, the handshake arrangements stop working. We sort the structure, the shareholder agreement, and the policies and procedures so the business is set up for where it's going, not where it started.
The first 15-minute call is free, no obligation. If we take it further, we will provide you with an estimate of our fees up front before any work starts.
We will always do our best to meet your deadlines. We are small boutique firm which allows for fast onboarding and turnaround times.
Good, if they know your industry and you're happy, keep them. A lot of the businesses we work with come to us because their lawyer was fine on paper but they don't understand the decisions being made after the advice is sent. We do. Use the free call as a second opinion.
You will deal exclusively with our principal solicitor, Josh McCormack. Josh spent 4 years inside a mining services business before starting the firm. There is no rotating cast of juniors, you will have one lawyer who gets to know your business and your matter from the first call onwards.
No, we work with businesses across Australia. Most matters run by phone, email and video, and we come to site when it's worth it.
Pick a time that suits and Josh will call you. You tell him what's going on, he tells you where you stand and what he would do next. Didn't book a time? Josh will call you the same day anyway.
Tell Us The Problem
Fill in the survey and pick a time, or Josh calls you the same day. 15 minutes on the phone: what's happened, what's at stake and what you want out of it. You hang up knowing exactly where you stand and it costs you nothing.
Plan and Price
Josh looks at the contract, the invoices or the emails properly, then provides recommendations on your options and a cost estimate before any work starts. If it's not worth pursuing, he tells you that too. The decision stays entirely in your own hands.
We Get It Done
Review, draft, negotiate, chase or resolve, Josh does all the work and you deal with him the whole way through, not a junior. When it's done, we're still on the end of the phone for the next contract, the next claim and everything in between.
Josh started McCormack Advisory after a decade in private practice and in-house at Weir Minerals Australia, reviewing the contracts, running the disputes and chasing the payments that keep a mining services business moving. He's been the one in the business who had to make the call, not just the lawyer writing the advice.
Alongside that is a background in commercial litigation and construction law, helping contractors, suppliers, developers and asset owners manage contract risk and resolve disputes from procurement through to project delivery.
Our firm is deliberately small. You deal directly with Josh and, get answers in plain English. Sole traders, family-run operators and national businesses all get the same thing: commercially focused advice that moves your matter forward without unnecessary complexity.
